Ride or Lie
For two years Gavin Mercer has driven his own car on every sales call, paying for gas and parking himself while five requests for a company vehicle go nowhere. A new intern, Rylan Shaw, takes his passenger seat, photographs the odometer, and files a formal complaint accusing Gavin of misusing a company vehicle, faking field visits, and silencing interns. Suspended from field work, Gavin refuses to shout. He brings proof: the title in his name, service receipts, bank statements showing zero reimbursements, and seven hundred days of signed receipts matching his mileage. His wife and son wait at home. At a hearing, Gavin asks them to call the whistleblower in. The numbers match the receipts. Paxton clears his name, launches a mileage stipend, reimburses two years of gas, and fires the intern. Two years on, Gavin is an assistant sales manager mentoring a new hire - and when he meets the man who reported him handing out flyers in a mall garage, he simply drives on.
